SERIES:

As the top development series of the CART FedEx Championship Series, the Dayton Indy Lights Championship is internationally recognized as a final step before reaching the highest levels of North American motorsports. A "spec" series," Indy Lights emphasizes driver skill and team preparation through the use of identical Lola T97/20 open-wheel, single-seat race cars. Indy Lights cars are only about 10 percent smaller than the Champ Cars they resemble and can reach a top speed that exceeds 190 mph.

Houston is the 11th round of the 12-race 2000 Dayton Indy Lights Championship. An international field of approximately 17 drivers representing a dozen different countries are expected to take the green flag.

HISTORY:

This will be the first visit that Indy Lights has ever made in Houston.
