RACE 10 - MOTOROLA 300
GATEWAY INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY (Madison, Ill.)
September 15-17, 2000
As the top development series of the CART FedEx Championship Series, the Dayton Indy Lights Championship is internationally recognized as a final step before reaching the highest levels of North American motorsports. A "spec" series," Indy Lights emphasizes driver skill and team preparation through the use of identical Lola T97/20 open-wheel, single-seat race cars. Indy Lights cars are only about 10 percent smaller than the Champ Cars they resemble and can reach a top speed that exceeds 190 mph.
No. 1 Townsend Bell - Costa Mesa, Calif. (DirecPC)
No. 2 Casey Mears - Bakersfield, Calif. (Dorricott Racing/Sooner Trailer)
No. 3 Jason Bright - Gold Coast, Australia (Dorricott Racing)
Gateway International Raceway is the 10th round of the 12-race 2000 Dayton Indy Lights Championship. An international field of approximately 18 drivers representing close to a dozen different countries are expected to take the green flag.
This will be the third Indy Lights appearance at Gateway International Raceway. It will be the first Indy Lights race at Gateway for Bell and Bright, and third for Mears. Mears started 16th and finished seventh place in 1998.
