Gabby Chaves victorious in Indy Lights race at Pocono

Gabby Chaves secured the Indy Lights win at Pocono Saturday.

Long Pond, Pa. – Gabby Chaves cruised to victory in the Indy Lights Pocono 100 at the Pocono Raceway on Saturday afternoon. Bolting into the lead at the outset, the Colombian wasn’t to be denied as he claimed his fourth victory of the season. It's also the second consecutive year that he's won at Pocono.

The victor drove the Marca Colombia/Coldeportes fielded by Belardi Auto Racing.

“This race wasn’t an easy one for me,” Chaves said. “I knew we had the car to beat, so I set myself mentally to go out there, take over the lead and take it from there. Once I opened up a big gap over Zach (Veach), I just tried to be consistent all the way to the end. I can’t be happier for the Belardi guys.”

Zach Veach finished 7.7 seconds behind after starting from pole and Jack Harvey claimed third place. Eight cars started the 40 lap race. Jockeying for position in the early going, Luiz Razia crashed out of the event.
