Pair of Top-Seven Finishes for BHA in Edmonton

Sebastian Saavedra and Stefan Wilson finished sixth and seventh respectively in today's Edmonton 100 Firestone Indy Lights event. It was mainly a processional race around the City Centre Airport circuit with the majority of passing maneuvers completed by the Bryan Herta Autosport teammates as pole sitter James Hinchcliffe scored a flag-to-flag victory.

Wilson qualified seventh and Saavedra eighth for the 50-lap race. The running order changed on the opening lap as Saavedra was able to pass Wilson to take over the seventh spot. Saavedra and Wilson ran nose to tail throughout the first third of the race until Lap 17 when Saavedra moved into sixth after passing fellow Colombian Gustavo Yacaman. Wilson was also able to make his way around Yacaman with 14 laps remaining to finish seventh in his first career start on the Edmonton course.

Saavedra and Wilson remain fifth and sixth in the championship standings with Saavedra 14 points out of third and Wilson 51. Saavedra and Wilson trail current leader J.K. Vernay by 96 and 133 points respectively.

BHA will next head to the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio, for Round 9 of competition on August 8.

Stefan Wilson, #28 Dallara/Firestone: "We had a really difficult weekend. We struggled mainly with a general lack of grip. We worked hard but we were just continually fighting the car. The race was difficult and it was a hard-fought finish."

Sebastian Saavedra, #29 William Rast Dallara/Firestone: "Since the beginning we struggled this weekend. It was a shame that we couldn't match the pace of the other guys but we were able to get a good result out of it after a really bad qualifying session. We were able to gain important points and we are still fifth in the championship. Mid-Ohio is next and we had a great test there. Stefan was P1 in the test and we have a good car to go there. Hopefully, we will start getting the points we need and podiums again from Mid-Ohio on."
