Canadian driver Zachary Claman DeMelo will make the switch to the Mazda Road to Indy ladder, joining championship-winning squad Juncos Racing in Indy Lights.
DeMelo, 17, amassed three Canadian karting championship titles and was originally linked to a Formula 3 move upon his graduation to open-wheel racing in 2015.
However, he instead contested several Formula Renault 2.0 rounds and ran a dominant part-time campaign in British club series MSV F3 Cup.
DeMelo, whose career is overseen by Infinity Sports Management, produced a good showing for Juncos in the MRTI tests at COTA, topping the final Lights test session.
"I am pleased to be able to announce that Zach Claman will be joining our organization for an assault on the 2016 Indy Lights championship,” said team boss Ricardo Juncos. “Zach has been extremely impressive in pre-season testing thus far, everyone is excited to see what he can do come St. Petersburg."
At Juncos, DeMelo joins previously confirmed returnee Kyle Kaiser. He becomes the second Canadian to join the 2016 Lights grid, with compatriot Dalton Kellett set for a rookie campaign with Andretti.
