Just a week after scoring his third 'podium' of the year, Dan Wheldon is seeking another good result as the 2001 CART Dayton Indy Lights Championship visits Toronto this weekend.

The seventh round of the 12-race series is being held on Sunday around the 1.755-mile Exhibition Place street circuit just outside Toronto -- in support of the CART FedEx World Series race in which Dan hopes to be racing next year!

In yesterday morning's first practice session, 23-year old Wheldon topped the time sheets with a 1minute 5.212 second lap.

In the afternoon -- in the first official qualifying session -- the Englishman was third fastestin a time of 1 minute 5.485 seconds in his Gemstar Communications PacWest Racing Lola-Buick.

Later in the day, Dan Wheldon said: "The PacWest team once again gave me another good car. The track seemed to change so much from the first session to the second, it actually hurt us. The track was just not as good for us, and I developed a lot of understeer over the concrete portions. Since I raced here in Atlantics (last year Wheldon was Rookie of the Year and second overall in the CART Toyota Atlantic Championship), I have a pretty good feel for the place, so I know we'll be OK on Saturday and Sunday."

The final qualifying session for tomorrow's race takes place this afternoon (Saturday).
