Solid 9th Place Finish for Yacamán at Barber Motorsports Park

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (April 11, 2010) -- Colombian Gustavo "Tigrillo" Yacaman finished ninth in the No. 10 Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing Dallara in the second round of Firestone Indy Lights at picturesque Barber Motorsports Park.

In front of packed grandstands and with fans camped 20-deep on the sloped hills that paralleled the backstretch, Yacaman started his machine in the 10th position. After a caution slowed the race on the first lap, the Colombian driver quickly found himself in a pack of cars that ran nose-to-tail through every turn.

With only a few places to safely pass on the 2.3-mile, 17-turn road course, Yacaman patiently worked his way through the track and waited for opportunities.

"The race was really frustrating," Yacaman said. "We had a good car, but qualifying set us back. I worked really hard passing cars on a track where passing is close to impossible. I had made progress, but I lost my momentum when I tried to pass (James) Winslow (No. 77 Sam Schmidt Motorsports).

"At the end of the day, it is another top-10 finish and good for the championship, and we will leave the track with no crash damage. Now we can turn the page and start thinking about the next race at Long Beach. I really want to thank all my crew for putting together a great race car that took me to the finish."

The No. 10 Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor team is currently sixth in the championship standings with 52 points.

Up next for Yacaman and Firestone Indy Lights is Round 3 on the Streets of Long Beach, April 16-18th.
