Birmingham: AFS/Andretti Autosport Friday report

CHARLIE KIMBALL, ...

CHARLIE KIMBALL, #26 TEAM LEVEMIR® FLEXPEN® CAR

* Finished P1 in the first practice session and P4 in the second session

"Today was really good. We were quickest this morning, and this afternoon we had a problem with track grip a bit. We ended up P4 in this session, though I know some of the other guys changed to new tires. We're looking forward to qualifying tomorrow morning. The #26 Levemir FlexPlen car has been solid all day, and I think that'll make the difference when it comes to race time on Sunday."

MARTIN PLOWMAN, #27 TEAM AFS RACING/ANDRETTI AUTOSPORT CAR

* Finished the first practice session in P3 and finished the second session in P5

"Our engineers are definitely working hard for their money today. The track conditions are completely different than when we were here for testing. We're going back to the drawing board to see what needs changed. We've made a few changes to this engine and it seemed to help. It's hard to tell where we are. There are a few guys out here putting new tires where most of us are running old tires so we were concentrating on race pace. I think we're looking pretty strong for the race with the #27 AFS Racing/Andretti Autosport car. We need to find some more speed for qualifying but we're not that far away."
