Following a brief break in Verizon IndyCar Series race action,  Dale Coyne Racing driver Justin Wilson is eager for the annual trip to the Milwaukee Mile this weekend as the series prepares for oval action following several rounds of road and street course events.

Hoping that a change of scene also marks a change in fortunes for the British ace, the ABC Supply Wisconsin 250 is staged on a 1-mile oval with just nine degrees of banking and was the site of Wilson’s very first oval race. Wilson first raced at the Milwaukee track in 2004 and finished 11th.  Since that solid oval debut, he’s made eight starts in Milwaukee with five different teams, netting a run to second place in 2006 among his five top-10 finishes at the track.

Wilson heads to West Allis after a Mid-Ohio weekend that brought early promise with strong practice speeds, but in the race saw a committed strategy not pay the dividends following some bad luck with timing of yellow flags.

Wilson hopes to make the most of the oval outing with the No. 19 Boy Scouts of America Honda this weekend.

“We got pretty unlucky with a few things at Mid-Ohio and that was frustrating,  so we’re all looking forward to turning the page onto Milwaukee,” said Wilson who spent his down time cycling and spending time with his family back home in Colorado. “Milwaukee really suits the IndyCars. It’s a challenging track. The car has to be good but the drivers have to really be on it as well. Hopefully we can put on a good show for the fans on Sunday and be hooked up with our Boy Scouts of America car.”

Milwaukee IndyFest

The Milwaukee IndyFest race event is a quick one with just two days of on track action for the Verizon IndyCar Series. Wilson will have two practice sessions on Saturday ahead of qualifying in the evening which will take place from 6:00 PM – 7:15 PM Central Time. The race is set to go green on Sunday at 3:45 PM Central Time.

In addition to the on-track activities, Wilson will also participate in a variety of other festivities as part of the big Milwaukee IndyFest event. He and fellow IndyCar racer Josef Newgarden will take part in the Bartender Challenge at Miller Time Pub Thursday evening from 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM Central Time.

Earlier this month, Tiltify partnered with Honda drivers Justin Wilson and Josef Newgarden and launched a campaign to raise money for Teen Cancer America for Teen and Young Adult Cancer Centers. As part of the campaign, Newgarden challenged Wilson to a battle on Forza 5 on Xbox. IndyCar fans can also enter for a chance to play Wilson and Newgarden virtually on August 28 for a donation of $5.00. The gameplay will be streamed live on Twitch.tv/Tiltify. Fans can enter through August 23.
