Wilson and Beatriz carry momentum into Brazil qualifying
Justin Wilson qualified ninth and Ana Beatriz 16th for the Itaipava Sao Paulo Indy 300 presented by Nestle on the streets of Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Sao Paulo, BRAZIL (May 4, 2013) – Coming off their best finishes of the season two weeks ago in the Grand Prix of Long Beach, both Ana Beatriz and Justin Wilson were looking to continuing their recent successes into this weekends running of the Itaipava Sao Paulo Indy 300 presented by Nestle on the streets of Sao Paulo, Brazil.
"I was very pleased with the car today,” said Wilson. “The team did a great job and I can't say enough good things about the car. We just missed advancing to the Firestone Fast Six, but I am happy with a ninth place starting position in the race tomorrow. It should be a very competitive race and we are looking forward to keeping up the momentum we have built through the first three races this season. I think the No. 19 Boy Scouts of America Honda has a good chance of a strong top finish in the race on Sunday."
Wilson is currently fifth in the IZOD IndyCar Series Championship point standings and is one of only three drivers to finish in the top 10 in all three races this season.
Ana Beatriz’s No. 18 Ipiranga Honda came close to joining her teammate Wilson in the Firestone Fast 12 on Saturday afternoon. The team strategy was for Beatriz to go out one lap on the Firestone black tires & pit before waiting a few minutes and going out on the quicker red tires. But when James Jakes’ engine fire brought out the red flag, it ended the qualifying session earlier than everyone expected, which only allowed Bia to get in one addition-qualifying lap.
"I am very happy with starting 16th in tomorrow's Itaipava Sao Paulo Indy 300,” said Beatriz. “The No. 18 Ipiranga Honda was very good today. I think we would have had a good chance to advance to the Firestone Fast 12 if it wasn't for the red flag shortening group two qualifying today. I am looking forward to the race tomorrow and hopefully a great finish for all the Brazilian fans."
The fourth annual Itaipava Sao Paulo Indy 300 presented by Nestle can be seen live on the NBC Sports Network starting at 11:00 a.m. (EDT) on Sunday, May 5.
