Hunter-Reay Leads Toronto Practice with Late Charge
Andretti Autosport's Ryan Hunter-Reay laid down a quick lap in the final minutes of IZOD IndyCar Series practice at Toronto's Exhibition Place street circuit to edge early pace-setter Justin Wilson at the top of the time charts Friday in preparation for Sunday's Honda Indy Toronto.
Driving for Dreyer & Reinbold Racing, Wilson had led most of the final hour, holding a half-second advantage until being bested by Hunter-Reay by just four-hundredths of a second and dropping to second at the checkers. Team Penske's Helio Castroneves and Will Power were third and fourth, respectively, with Raphael Matos rounding out the top five in a strong performance for the sophomore driver with de Ferran Dragon Racing.
Justin Wilson (#22 Dreyer & Reinbold Racing Honda) second quickest in practice: "It's always good to come back here to Toronto. I enjoy the layout here. It's bumpy, but has character. The team gave me a great car today, but we know how to further improve it for tomorrow. Our goal for tomorrow is to make the 'Fast Six' [final qualifying group]."
