Carpenter and the No. 20 Menards/Vision Racing Honda powered Dallara, were 12th fastest with a four lap average of 212.247 mph and will start on the outside of the sixth row. He will be looking to add to his two top-five and two additional top-10 finishes in tomorrow night's race.

Foyt has six career IndyCar Series attempts at Texas with a best start of 11th and a best finish of 10th. He's been running at the finish twice and has just one top-10 finish on the 1.5-mile oval.

Qualifying/Practice Results and Quotes: (June 6, 2008)
A.J. Foyt IV - No. 2 Lilly Diabetes/Vision Racing Dallara/Honda/Firestone
"I'm disappointed with the four laps and not necessarily the top speed. We need to figure out something to make our first lap as good as our last lap. It just killed our average. I'm just disappointed in our qualifying run. We've been a lot better on mile and a half ovals than we just showed. We'll just have to get ready to make our way through traffic for the race."
Ed Carpenter - No. 20 Menards/Vision Racing Dallara/Honda/Firestone
"I'm not very happy with the run. I feel we had a much faster car than that or I at least I though we did. We started off the weekend pretty quick and we've been around the same speed while other teams have picked up more speed throughout the weekend. I'm a little frustrated. I definitely wanted to be starting higher than we are. In previous years I would have said it didn't really matter where you qualified, you'd still be able to make your way forward in the race, but this year I'm not so sure. This year, no one seems to be able to pass anyone in practice. I'm not sure what's going on with the package we have right now. We'll be able to pass, but I think we'll have to really rely on the guys in the pits to improve our track position because it won't be as easy as it has been to pass here at Texas."
