DREYER & REINBOLD RACING QUALIFIED 7th AND 19th FOR THE INDY GRAND PRIX OF SONOMA
Sonoma, CA (August 21, 2010)- Today was filled with ups and downs for Dreyer & Reinbold Racing at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, California. The Indianapolis-based squad worked diligently to get the cars just right. Justin Wilson, pilot of the No. 22 Z-Line Designs machine, qualified 7th for the Indy Grand Prix of Sonoma. His teammate, JR Hildebrand, pilot of the No.24 TranSystems car, will start 19th for tomorrow's event.
Justin Wilson worked hard all weekend to make it into the Firestone Fast Six today. He advanced to the Fast Twelve, and was well on his way to the Firestone Fast Six, but on the last lap was nudged out of the top-6 by one one-hundredth of a second. Wilson will start 7th (1:16.9447, 107.750 mph) for tomorrow's race. In 2009, Justin started 22nd and finished 7th.
JR Hildebrand proved his true talent again today as he's making his second IZOD IndyCar appearance at his home race. The reigning Firestone Indy Lights Champion had a solid run in qualifying. As he diligently worked to make it into the fast twelve, he was bumped out in the end. Hildebrand will start 19th (1:17.7659, 106.612 mph).
What they have to say:
Justin Wilson, No. 22 Z-Line Designs: "I'm pretty happy with the balance of the Z-Line Designs car. It's disappointing not to have made the Firestone Fast Six. Our qualifying lap was good, but I thought maybe I could push a bit harder. On my last lap I tried to brake a bit later into Turn 11 and unfortunately locked the rears. It's something we've been challenged with all weekend and it's been our weakest corner. We've been losing about a tenth and a half there which would have put us right in the mix for the Fast Six. We keep working on it and we've been raising the bar in terms of what the car can do, but we still need a fraction more. I'm looking forward to tomorrow's race."
JR Hildebrand, No. 24 TranSystems: "I thought we were looking pretty good today, and we picked up in all of the fast parts of the track, but unfortunately we didn't gain much time in the slow corners. Tonight will be a matter of figuring out what we need to do. It's a little bit frustrating, but tomorrow is a long race and I think that we will be good."
