VISION RACING LOGS MOST LAPS IN DAY OF PRACTICE AT SONOMA

SONOMA, Calif. - Vision Racing drivers Ed Carpenter and A.J. Foyt IV took to the twists, turns and elevations of Infineon Raceway today; turning the most laps in preparation for Sunday's PEAK Motor Oil & Antifreeze Indy Grand Prix of Sonoma County.

Carpenter was 22nd quick in the No. 20 Menards/Vision Racing Honda/Dallara/Firestone machine and turned 59 laps with a best time of 1:18.7126 and lap speed of 105.330 mph.

In his first attempt at Infineon Raceway in 2005, Carpenter started 20th and finished 15th with Vision Racing. In 2006 season he started 16th and finished 12th and last year he started the race from the 14th spot, ran as high as 12th and ultimately finished 13th. He has run at the finish in all three attempts at Infineon.

Carpenter will be battling for his eighth finish in the top-10 this weekend and looking for a chance to move up in the championship driver point standings where he current stand in the 11th spot with 282 points.

After two sessions of practice, Foyt was 24th quick in the No. 2 Lilly Diabetes/Vision Racing Dallara/Honda/Firestone while completing the most laps of the day with 67 revolutions around the 2.303 mile road course. His best time was 1:19.4277 with a best lap speed of 104.382 mph.

Foyt started 15th on the grid in his first start at Infineon Raceway last season and was running 14th on lap 73 when Scott Sharp drove underneath him in turn 11 and then spun out in front of him, causing Foyt to crash. He finished in the 15th spot.

He will be looking to capture his fourth top-10 finish of the year in the No. 2 Lilly Diabetes/Vision Racing Dallara/Honda/Firestone. He is currently 19th in the driver point standings with 231 points.

In three prior trips to Infineon Raceway, the team's best finish there came last season when Tomas Scheckter finished eighth.

After working with team road-course consultant Bryan Herta and testing at the facility last week, both Carpenter and Foyt hope they can give the team and themselves a best finish at Infineon this weekend.

Fellow partners Lilly and CardioChek will also join the team at Infineon Raceway for the Vision Racing Wellness Tour, which allows race fans to stop by a an opportunity to receive free cholesterol screenings and diabetes education. The complimentary cholesterol screenings and diabetes information will be made available at the track on Sunday, Aug. 24 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the IndyCar merchandise tent. In addition, Carpenter Foyt will be at the Wellness Tour location starting at 11:15 a.m. on Sunday for media interviews and autographs for those fans being screened.

A.J. Foyt IV - No. 2 Lilly Diabetes/Vision Racing Dallara/Honda/Firestone

"It was a good day of practice with a lot of track time. Our times don't really represent all the work that was done today by the Vision team on the Lilly car. We're expecting to be better tomorrow."

Ed Carpenter - No. 20 Menards/Vision Racing Dallara/Honda/Firestone

"We started out really well in Friday morning practice but I'm a bit disappointed we didn't better ourselves in the afternoon session. It was an okay session, but we didn't improve our time in the No.20 Menard's car as we had hoped, but overall I feel really good heading into tomorrow and qualifying. I feel like we really have a chance to make it out of at least the first round of qualifying. This is actually the best chance I feel we've had to do that this season yet. We'll see how it goes by looking at what we learned today, but for sure we'll need to be better to get in there but I really think we are capable of doing that."

On Bryan Herta's Contribution:
"For sure I think Bryan (Herta) is helping us from a driving stand point and from a car set up stand point. He's had so much experience and brings a lot to the table. Both A.J. (Foyt IV) and I have benefited by working with him on things that help build up our confidence by making sure we're working on the right things. It's definitely been a good relationship."
