From pole winner Helio Castroneves, #3 Team Penske Dallara/Honda/Firestone: "So far, the 'Magic Ring' Firestone Firehawk tires are magical to my car! I want to keep it that way. The 'Magic Rings' are fun - fun for us and fun for the fans. Hopefully they will be magic in the race as well. The tires were really good today. I believe because of this track, the surface, we have only one perfectly timed lap. Other than that, the tire is very consistent, but one fast lap is all we could do - so that's what we did!"
From Al Speyer, Executive Director, Firestone Racing: "As the competition for the IndyCar Series championship reaches its final stages, it was great to see three of the six cars in the Firestone Fast Six qualifying session running on our new 'Magic Ring' tires. This track, with its beautiful setting, perfect weather and keen fans, serves as a great backdrop for the race to the title. Congratulations to Helio Castroneves for his record 26th career pole position. And the fact that it came in the face of such adversity, having lost his primary car in the transporter fire, makes it that much more of an accomplishment for him and for Team Penske. The Firestone Firehawk tires have performed well this weekend. We are pleased with the results we've seen from our softest road course tire here under some high track surface temperatures, and we expect that to hold true for tomorrow's race."
