The F1 hopeful is pursuing a seat in IndyCar with Formula One setback.
Alexander Rossi is a promising American racer trying to break into Formula One. A GP2 and GP3 race-winner, Rossi has come heart-wrenchingly close to his highly sought after F1 debut on multiple occasions this year, but it never came to fruition.
Unfortunately, he may never get that chance with the demise of Marussia, for whom he was a test driver for. We knew he was looking into IndyCar, just as many other drivers with F1 aspirations.
The fight for an American in F1
The United States has two realistic shots in terms of one of their own making it into Formula One (the other being Conor Daly), but due to the current state of the sport, both of their chances have taken a hit.
He is now in talks with Dale Coyne Racing, a respectable IndyCar team that won a race earlier this year with rookie Carlos Huertas. His F1 dream may still be kept alive by the new American-based, Gene Haas-run F1 team, but they aren't set to join the grid until 2016.
Dale Coyne Racing put an interesting post on FB the other day, which can be seen below. Make of it what you will, but I would be extremely surprised if we don't see Rossi racing come 2015.
