Closing in on the Centennial: With Wheldon's win at Iowa Speedway last Sunday, Chip Ganassi Racing Teams, Inc. (CGR) scored its 98th career win since its inception in 1990, putting the team just two wins shy of its 100th visit to victory lane.
Five for Eight: TCGR has won five of the first eight IndyCar races this season, a feat that was matched one other time in CGR history in 1998 when Jimmy Vasser and Alex Zanardi combined to win five of the first eight races under the CART banner.
Scott Dixon and the No. 9 Target Honda Team
The Power House: National Speed Sport News released a new power ranking that shows Dixon as the top driver in motor racing, with Kyle Busch in second place.
Going for 2K: Dixon could become the fifth driver to lead 2,000 laps in his career if he can be the first across the start-finish line 85 more times. In the 2008 season alone Dixon has led 633 laps.
Consistency Adds Up: Dixon is one of two drivers (Helio Castroneves) to score top-five finishes in seven of the first eight IndyCar races this season.
Dan Wheldon and the No. 10 Target Honda Team
For a Good Cause: Both Dixon and Wheldon donated their Iowa winnings last weekend to relief programs for the victims of floods and tornados in Iowa. Wheldon commented, "It's very small in the grand scheme of things, but we're very proud to be able to do something. Hopefully it will put a smile on people's faces."
Wheldon Running at 100%: The English-born TCGR driver is the only driver in the IndyCar Series to complete all laps (1,586) run this season.
Been There Done That: Wheldon and Dixon both have five starts at Richmond since 2003 and have scored one win and two podium finishes a piece. Wheldon has finished in the top-10 at every race on the Virginian short track.
No. 9 Target Honda: IR6-4; Chassis is the same used in the Indianapolis 500 and Texas wins this season.
No.10 Target Honda: IR6-2; Wheldon won with this chassis at Chicago in 2006.
