Pigot joins Ed Carpenter Racing for road and street courses
Reigning Indy Lights champion Spencer Pigot will add seven races to his debut part-time campaign in IndyCar, having signed a deal to drive the #20 Ed Carpenter Racing-Chevrolet car.
Pigot will pilot the #20 entry at Detroit, Road America, Toronto, Mid-Ohio, Watkins Glen and Sonoma, with team owner Ed Carpenter driving the car in IndyCar's oval races.
The 22-year-old Californian's 2015 Lights title had entitled him to three races in IndyCar this year - and he contested those races with Rahal Letterman Lanigan-Honda, with a best finish of 11th in the Indianapolis road course event.
“I have to thank Fuzzy's Vodka and Rising Star Racing for the opportunity to continue my IndyCar career this season,” said Pigot.
“This weekend in Detroit will be the first time we work together, they have a lot of talented people within the team and we will try to hit the ground running.
"I'd also like to thank Bobby Rahal and the RLL team for giving me my first shot in IndyCar.”
At ECR, Mazda Road to Indy graduate Pigot joins fellow Lights champion Josef Newgarden in what currently is a two-car line-up.
“We are really excited to be able to add Spencer to the ECR line-up and finish out the year with the 20 Fuzzy’s Vodka car at all of the races,” said team owner Carpenter.
“Spencer is a definite young talent who came through the Road to Indy and we look forward to finishing the year strong with him.”
