Hometown Hero Rahal Sets Early Mid-Ohio Pace

Graham Rahal jumped to the top of the time sheets in the final minutes of IZOD IndyCar Series practice Friday at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, the native of nearby Columbus, Ohio, leading a 27-car field in preparation for Sunday's Honda Indy 200.

Driving for Newman Haas Racing, Rahal edged the Team Penske Honda Dallara of IndyCar Series points leader Will Power by just twenty-four thousandths of a second around the 2.258-mile road course. Reigning Indy Lights champion JR Hildebrand made a sensational IZOD IndyCar Series debut, posting the seventh-quickest time for Dreyer & Reinbold Racing.

Graham Rahal (#06 Newman Haas Racing Honda) quickest in practice: "I am a bit surprised, especially as at one point we were 10th, but only a tenth (of a second) off. But I really wanted to be fastest on the first day at home. It feels good. It's a good sign for us this weekend."
