KV Racing Technology driver Tony Kanaan finishes 10th at Milwaukee Indyfest

WEST ALLIS, WI - Saturday, June 15, 2012 - KV Racing Technology driver Tony Kanaan finished 10th in today's Milwaukee IndyFest on the historic Milwaukee Mile in West Allis, Wisconsin. Teammate Simona De Silvestro had an incident which damaged her car forcing her from the race.

Kanaan, piloting the #11 Hydroxycut - KV Racing - SH Racing Chevrolet/Firestone machine, qualified seventh and ran in or near the top-10 the entire race, but in the end did not have the pace to challenge the leaders. He earned 20 points today and is sixth in the championship race with 215 points.

"It was a very difficult race for us," Kanaan said. "We had to battle all day long, but just didn't have the pace. We finished in the top-10 so I will take those points. Now we move on to Iowa where hopefully we can have a better finish."

Kanaan, who made his 14th start at Milwaukee,has now finished in the top-10 eighttimes here with two wins (2006 and 2007). The 38-year-old Brazilian and 2013 Indy 500 Champion, has finished eightof the nine races contested this year earning fourtop-10 finishes including two podium performances and the victory at Indy.

De Silvestro, driver of the No.78 Nuclear Clean Air Energy - KV Racing Technology Chevrolet/Firestone entry, qualified 24th on the 24-car grid, but started 22nd when Dario Franchitti and Charlie Kimball were accessed penalties for unauthorized engine changes. She had a tough day from the start. The car wasn't handling great early on which resulted in the 24-year-old Swiss driver making contact with the wall in turn four and stalling the engine. The safety team was able to restart the car and De Silvestro drove back to the pits for new tires. She came in a few laps later for a new rear wing. That stop put her seven laps down from the leaders, but the team had hopes that the new wing would be enough for her to finish the race. Unfortunately, the damage suffered made the No. 78 car undriveable; De Silvestro's day was done on lap 69.

"The car was loose from the start and then it just took off," De Silvestro said. "We made contact with the wall. The guys changed the rear wing and we went back out, but I don't know if it was damage from the crash or what, but it really wasn't driveable after that. I feel bad for my Nuclear Clean Air Energy sponsors that we had such a short race, but we just weren't ever able to get the car fixed right.

Next up for KVRT is the Iowa Corn Indy 250 at Iowa Speedway in Newton, Iowa, June 22-23.
