RAHAL ADVANCES FIVE POSITIONS UNDER THE LIGHTS AT KENTUCKY SPEEDWAY; FISHER OUT EARLY WITH GEARBOX ISSUES
SPARTA, KY (Sept. 4, 2010)-Sarah Fisher Racing (SFR) driver Graham Rahal finished in the 20th position in tonight's Kentucky Indy 300 at Kentucky Speedway. Rahal started the race in the 25th spot and was able to advance five positions throughout the 300-mile event. The No. 66 Service Central team completed four pit stops, and Rahal never gave up the fight.
"The car felt good there at the end, but there was just no speed," said Rahal, who will race in the final two events of the 2010 IZOD IndyCar ® Series season for Newman Haas Racing. "It's pretty frustrating because myself and the entire SFR team worked really hard all weekend to find speed. I wish we could have delivered a better result, but it wasn't from a lack of trying."
Sarah Fisher Racing (SFR) team owner/driver Sarah Fisher finished in the 22nd position in tonight's race, after retiring early due to losing fifth gear. The No. 67 Dollar General team said the issue was not resolvable during the remaining laps in the event.
"It was a very frustrating night for the Dollar General team," said a disappointed Fisher. "Everyone worked extremely hard, but unfortunately some things are out of our control. We lost fifth gear early in the race and couldn't keep our momentum or recover from that failure. I'm confident we'll go back to the drawing board and be well prepared for Homestead. I'd really like to thank Service Central, Cincinnati Bell, Dollar General and Direct Supply for giving us the opportunity to bring two cars to Kentucky. Here's to Homestead and the pink campaign!"
Team Penske's Helio Castroneves took the checkered flag in tonight's Kentucky Indy 300, followed closely by Panther Racing's Ed Carpenter.
Fisher's 2010 IZOD IndyCar ® Series season continues October 2 at Homestead-Miami Speedway (HMS). The race will be telecast live in High Definition (HD) at 6:00 p.m. (EST) on VERSUS. The race will air live on the IMS Radio Network, XM channel 145 and Sirius channel 211. The radio broadcast also will be carried on www.indycar.com, with broadcast coverage summaries available at www.indycar.com and www.sarahfisher.com.
