Justin 18th after tough day in Kansas

01-May-2010 - Justin and Dreyer & Reinbold Racing battled through handling problems to finish 18th in the Road Runner Turbo Indy 300 at Kansas Speedway in the No. 22 Charter/Z-Line Designs car. Scott Dixon led a 1-2 for Chip Ganassi Racing from Dario Franchitti, while Tony Kanaan (Andretti Autosport) rounded out the podium. Justin's team-mate Mike Conway was 14th in the No. 24 Dad's Root Beer car.

Starting from P22 on the grid, the chronic understeer that had dogged the No. 22 car in qualifying continued to make itself felt and after carving his way forward on the opening lap Justin dropped back and was unable to make significant progress. With every pit-stop the No. 22 Charter/Z-Line Designs team made positive changes that helped to improve the car's balance and in the final third of the race Justin was able to move forward, but from 3 laps down there were limits on how many positions he could gain.

"It was a tough day today for the No. 22/Charter/Z-Line Designs team," said Justin. "I was fighting understeer throughout the entire race. We made changes with each stop and the car was getting better, but we struggled to find grip. I'm setting my sights on Indy and am looking forward to doing some testing and dialling the car in."

Justin and the team are heading directly to Kentucky Speedway to test this week before starting their preparations for the Indianapolis 500 on May 30.
