Andretti Autosports' Tony Kanaan once again made contact with Indianapolis Motor Speedway's infamous "wall" on Sunday morning during final practice prior to Bump Day qualifications, this time in his backup No. 11T Dallara/Honda. Kanaan struck the SAFER retaining barrier in Turns 1 and 2, near the location that he struck on Saturday, sustaining moderate damage to his racecar. Kanaan appeared to be unhurt as he climbed out of the race car unassisted. The result leaves the 2004 Indy Racing League champion in treacherous waters just hours before his last chance to enter next Sunday's Indianapolis 500. It also underlines the frustration that has met the Andretti Autosports team in its efforts to put five cars into the 33-car field.

Sarah Fisher Racing's Jay Howard took honors with the fastest lap of the one-hour morning session on a speed of 225.956 mph around the 2.5-mile oval. Second best was KV Racing Technology's Paul Tracy (225.258 mph), followed by Saturday qualifier Simona de Silvestro of HVM Racing at 225.163 mph. Vitor Meira (224.705 mph) in the AJ Foyt Enterprises race car and Mario Romancini (224.615 mph) driving for Conquest Racing rounded out the top five.

In a toasty change of pace the weatherman has a hot day in store for race fans at Indianapolis on Sunday. The predicted high of 89 degrees Fahrenheit far surpasses the warmest day of Indy practice so far this year, and bright sunshine mandates a healthy dose of sunscreen for the skin- sensitive.
