Justin looks forward to Grand Prix of Alabama
After an eventful start to their 2011 IZOD IndyCar Series season at St. Petersburg a fortnight ago, Justin and Dreyer & Reinbold Racing are eager to get racing again at this weekend’s Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama. The picturesque, 2.4 mile Barber Motorsports Park is a real driver’s track, chock full of fast, grippy corners. Last year Justin qualified 11th and finished 7th by making the most of the track’s few overtaking opportunities.
After a productive test a few weeks ago Justin is hopeful of getting the most out of the No. 22 Charter car this weekend. But beyond the normal set-up challenges he’ll also be driving with a carbon fibre brace as he recovers from a small fracture to a bone in his left wrist. Justin’s regular team-mate Ana Beatriz, who also picked up a wrist injury in the St. Pete race, will sit out this weekend as she recovers from a broken scaphoid (an injury familiar to Justin from his 2006 Champ Car season). Replacing Bia in the No. 24 Ipiranga/Blazemaster car this weekend is experienced road racer Simon Pagenaud, one of Justin’s former competitors in the 2007 Champ Car World Series.
I have a brace, which helps a lot and we will just have to take the weekend a step at a time.
"I'm really looking forward to a new weekend,” said Justin. “We have a lot of ideas that we took from the test and I think that we will be right on the pace. Obviously, my wrist will be a factor and hopefully I will be fine. I have a brace, which helps a lot and we will just have to take the weekend a step at a time. I also have a new teammate this weekend and it will be good to have Simon on the team. Obviously, we wish Bia was back in the car this weekend, but I've broken that bone before and it's not fun. I think she made the right decision to sit this one out and let it heal. I hope that she has a speedy recovery."
