Justin Wilson eager to return to Barber Motorsports Park

Birmingham, Ala. – After a promising race was cut short as he battled for the lead of the race in Long Beach, Justin Wilson is eager to return to Verizon IndyCar Series action this weekend at Barber Motorsports Park as the Dale Coyne Racing driver looks to rebound with a strong race result in the No. 19 Boy Scouts of America Honda.
The Long Beach result was especially disappointing after Wilson, who has proven competitive no matter what the format with wins in both oval and road course competition, had recovered from being spun early in the race to fight for the lead as the race was entering its final stages.
But Wilson has put the Long Beach round behind him and is now fully focused on Barber which marks Round 3 of the 2014 Verizon IndyCar Series championship.
The Barber weekend will see Wilson look to continue that strong race day form, and those hopes are further fostered thanks to an encouraging pre-season test at Barber with the No. 19 Boy Scouts of America Honda. The outing marked the first time for Wilson and his new Dale Coyne Racing Engineer Michael Cannon to work together on track.
Wilson was the fastest Honda of the test and was second quickest overall. He looks to carry that momentum into this weekend’s Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama race festivities.
“I’m looking forward to Barber, we had a very good test there,” said Wilson. “The car is working well and I’m looking forward to going back. Barber is always a fantastic race. It seems like it’s impossible to overtake there, but in the race as the tires start to wear out – we abuse them because of the high G-forces – there is a lot of movement and usually makes for an exciting and interesting race.”
Verizon IndyCar Series practice begins with two sessions on Friday, April 25. A second practice will take place on Saturday and will be followed by qualifying at 2:00 PM ET. The Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama will take the green flag on Saturday, April 27 at 2:00 PM ET.
NBC Sports will carry live television coverage of the race beginning at 1:30 PM ET.
