Indianapolis, IN -- Hemelgarn/Johnson Motorsports driver Cory Witherill completed his first scheduled test session of the 2003 Infiniti Pro Series season on Jan.6 at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

"We had a successful day of testing and received lots of positive feedback on the mechanical changes that my crew made to the chassis," said Witherill.

Witherill, 31, from Santa Monica, Calif., turned more than 100 laps before the engine expired at the tail end of the afternoon session.

"We were running the motor from last season while we wait for our new Infiniti. We didn't bring an extra engine so we're forced to pack up and head back to Indy."

The Hemelgarn/Johnson Motorsports team has plans for Witherill and teammate Aaron Fike to participate in additional testing prior to the Test in the West February 3-6.
