Dan Wheldon on the Watkins Glen Indy Grand Prix:

"Watkins Glen is probably my favorite road course that I've ever been on. It's a fast track that's
flowing and I think it suits my style of driving. The Klein Tools/Jim Beam team had a difficult test there, and
we didn't do many laps, so we've got a little catching up to do. It's a great track and I'm hoping to do well."

Dan Wheldon Facts

By turning at least one practice lap on Friday, Sept. 23, and the race becoming official at lap 31 on Sunday, Sept. 25, Wheldon will clinch the IndyCar Series championship.

Wheldon won the most-recent IndyCar Series race at Chicagoland Speedway. It was Wheldon's sixth win of 2005, setting an IndyCar Series record for the most victories in a season.

Wheldon's fifth win came at the Honda Indy 225 at Pikes Peak. The win clinched the engine manufacturers' championship for Honda.

Wheldon has nine career IndyCar Series wins, tying him with Scott Sharp for the second-most wins in history. Sharp has nine wins in 113 starts, Wheldon has nine victories in 47 career starts.

Wheldon's nine wins have come over a 29-race stretch; the best streak in IndyCar Series history.

The Klein Tools/Jim Beam team has recorded a top-six finish in 20 of the last 22 races.

Wheldon's six wins of 2005 have come at: Homestead-Miami (March 6), St. Petersburg (April 3), Twin Ring Motegi (April 30), Indianapolis (May 29), Pikes Peak (Aug. 21), Chicagoland (Sept. 11).

Wheldon is the only IndyCar Series driver to win four of the first five races in a season.

On May 29, he became the 64th different driver to win the Indianapolis 500.

Wheldon has led more laps (739) in 2005 than any other driver. He is sixth on the all-time list for laps led with 1,205, and is one of only 10 people to lead at least 1,000 laps in the IndyCar Series.

Wheldon ranks in the top 10 in several IndyCar Series career categories. Those include: wins (t-2nd), top-five finishes (5th), races led (t-5th), top-10 finishes (6th), laps led (6th), career earnings (8th).

Eddie Jones, Race Engineer, #26 Klein Tools/Jim Beam Dallara/Honda/Firestone on the Watkins Glen Indy Grand Prix:

"To be quite honest, our approach to every race this year has been to go out and win and that won't change. That's what the Klein Tools/Jim Beam team is all about and that's always been Dan's approach. We hope to wrap up the championship, but beyond that, we're looking to finish the season in style."
