Indianapolis, IN: Meijer, Inc. is pleased to announce their continued relationship with the Treadway Racing team for the 2000 Indianapolis 500. Based on the positive consumer response from Arie's Final 500 last season, Meijer has made the decision to increase their involvement this season and take over the title sponsorship for Robby McGehee's #5 Meijer/Energizer Advanced Formula/Mall.com entry for the historic 84th running of the Indianapolis 500 on May 28th.

Scott Cronk, Vice President of Treadway Racing is pleased to have Meijer stores back on board for such a significant event. "We are glad that the program we executed for Meijer stores last May on track and off, was extremely effective and that they have chosen to increase their participation with the team this year," he said. "The promotional elements we have prepared for this year's 500 will be a great deal of fun for Meijer customers and bring significant value to Meijer itself. Best of all, we hope to seal all of these great relationships with a victory!"

Meijer Inc., which is headquartered in Grand Rapids, Michigan with stores in Indiana and the upper Midwest, is looking forward to their representation among the best in the motorsports area this May. "Meijer customers have come to expect something exciting from us during the Indy 500" said Don Harty, Store Director of the Rockville Road Meijer location. "Our partnership with Treadway Racing adds great value to the Meijer shopping experience. And this year our customers, and employees, will be looking for the checkered flag!"

The #5 entry of Robby McGehee's will be repainted to a red and white paint scheme-which is indicative of Meijer's logo and color schemes. The first glimpse for the public will be at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway open test, which is conducted from Sunday, April 9 through Tuesday, April 11.

Energizer, who had titled Robby McGehee's IRL entry since the 1999 Indianapolis 500, will become a Major Associate Sponsor on the car to take advantage of the turnkey sales promotion being deployed by Meijer, Inc. and Treadway Racing.

After 65 years in business and a hundred stores later, Meijer, Inc. has established itself as the premiere 1-Stop Supercenter, spanning Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and Kentucky. Fred Meijer's vision of selling literally everything under one roof came true: A modern Meijer is as large as 250,000 square feet and carries over 120,000 products in 40 departments, all under one roof, night and day every day, 364 days a year.

Over the course of those 65 years, Meijer Inc., has come to recognize that customers are drawn by value and kept by friendliness and courtesy, qualities that have become and will always remain hallmarks of the Meijer experience.
