Cheever logs a 16th place finish at Texas
Fort Worth, Texas - Eddie Cheever, Jr., and his #51 Team Cheever/The Children's Beverage Group Dallara/Goodyear/Infiniti finishes sixteenth at tonight's Pep Boys Indy Racing League Longhorn 500 at Texas Motor Speedway after a series of misfortunes ranging from a misjudged fuel window to a broken battery tray which most likely occurred from an earlier incident with another car.
"This was not a very good racing day for Team Cheever," said the 1998 Indy 500 winner of the race. "We came here prepared to win. The Infiniti engine was strong and helped secure us a fifth starting position for the race. We had our Goodyear tires figured out. So we had every intention of taking the checkered flag first. We have only ourselves to blame for our results tonight."
Eddie Cheever, Jr. now ranks 5th in the Drivers Points. Round five of the 10-race Pep Boys Indy Racing League series takes place at Pikes Peak International Raceway on Sunday, June 27th.
