Yasukawa finishes ninth under the lights at Texas
Roger Yasukawa claimed his best IRL IndyCar Series result to date this evening with a ninth-place finish in the Bombardier 500 at Texas Motor Speedway. The result was Yasukawa's second consecutive top-10 finish after a 10th-place run in the Indianapolis 500 two weeks ago, and has moved the Rookie of the Year points leader, currently tied for 13th position in the series points standings, into striking distance of the top-10 in the championship. Fellow Honda driver Tony Kanaan current leads the championship.
Super Aguri Fernandez Racing looks to carry its momentum to the Honda Indy 225 next weekend as Pikes Peak International Raceway hosts Round Six of the series on June 15.
Roger Yasukawa, Driver - #55 Panasonic ARTA Dallara/Honda/Firestone:
"It was a very exciting race throughout the night. The Panasonic ARTA car had some push initially in traffic, but we were able to improve the balance during the pit stops. On the last lap, I didn't clean the tires enough under yellow and I got a bit loose through Turn One giving up my eighth spot to Gil [de Ferran]. All in all it was a great experience and my drafting skills improved tremendously during the race. The finish was a bit conservative but as a rookie, every step of improvement is what you need in order to win the race. We should be stronger in Colorado and we'll shoot for a better finish yet again."

Tom Anderson, Managing Director:
"Texas racing was very exciting this evening. I am satisfied with Roger and the Panasonic crew and the job that they did. John Dick [race engineer] gave us a great setup and the balance with the Firestone tires was perfect. We put some front wing in on a couple of [pit] stops, but kept our Firestone tires even throughout the night. We had a great engine from Honda all weekend and great fuel mileage during the race. Ninth place was a good finish for the Panasonic team tonight."
