Matsuura in Row Five for Texas Night Race

Kosuke Matsuura will start 10th for this Saturday night's Bombardier Learjet 500 at Texas Motor Speedway, amid a competitive grid with the entire field covered by only 0.5243 seconds. Matsuura set the sixth-fastest time overall in the 75-minutes of practice leading up to qualifying this evening. He recorded his best result at the 1.5-mile oval last year, finishing seventh in his fourth career start at the circuit.

Final practice will take place tomorrow evening, with Saturday's 200-lap feature -- the first night race of the 2006 season -- scheduled for 8:15 pm CT.

Kosuke Matsuura, #55 Panasonic ARTA Dallara/Honda/Firestone:
"I think we should be happy with a top-10 qualifying result compared to last year. We are in the top 10 with both cars [Scott Sharp]. I knew Penske and Ganassi would be strong. I think we are pretty competitive. We just need to find a little bit more mechanical balance for the race. The grid is really tight and the race is going to be very competitive. I'm looking forward to Saturday."
