JOHN PAUL, JR. RETURNS TO IRL SERIES AT MALL.COM 500

FORT WORTH-DALLAS (Oct. 11, 1999) - John Paul, Jr. will return to the Pep Boys Indy Racing League in time to defend his title at the Oct. 17 Mall.com 500.

Paul, who finished two races early in the season with Jonathan Byrd/Cunningham Racing, has been idle since the team suspended their 1999 operations. McCormack Motorsports has announced Paul will drive the #30 Big Daddy's BBQ Beef Jerky/Cole Bros. Water G-Force/Aurora at Texas.

"We are pleased to have put together a program for John Paul, Jr." said team owner Dennis McCormack. "It is exciting to be working with Big Daddy's BBQ Beef Jerky and heading to Texas Motor Speedway with the reigning Mall.com 500 champion. John Paul is one of the nicest guys in motorsports."

"I am obviously very excited about the opportunity to drive for McCormack Motorsports," said Paul. "Getting to compete in the IRL again and defend my victory at Texas is a dream come true. I've been looking forward to having something to sink my teeth into and I can't wait to get started."

Paul's win last year at Texas was his first in the Pep Boys Indy Racing League.
