Castroneves Ties IRL Record With Fourth Straight Pole Toyota on Pole at Texas

- Helio Castroneves put his Marlboro Toyota on the pole for a record-tying fourth consecutive race in qualifying for Sunday's Texas 500 at the Texas Motor Speedway. The pole is the fifth of the season for Castroneves and Marlboro Team Penske's second in a row here for the Fall race here at Texas with Gil de Ferran's Toyota winning the pole here last year.

- Today's pole is Toyota's 16th in 32 IndyCar Series races, fourth in a row and its fifth of the 2004 campaign.

- Helio Castroneves' pole position is his fifth of the season and the ninth of his IndyCar Series career eight of those coming with Toyota power over the last two seasons. With his fourth consecutive pole, he ties the IndyCar Series record set by Billy Boat in 1998.

- Defending IRL champion Scott Dixon made it three Toyota's in the top-six with his sixth-place effort tonight despite running only one lap.

- Sam Hornish Jr. (Marlboro Toyota) qualified third tonight and has now qualified in the top seven in nine of the last 10 races where qualifying has taken place. Hornish won back-to-back Fall races here at the Texas Motor Speedway in 2001 and 2002 including a photo finish over now teammate Castroneves to win the 2002 IndyCar Series title.

- Scott Sharp (Delphi Toyota) qualified for his 98th IndyCar Series race and his 90th consecutive event both IndyCar Series records.

- Today's pole marks the second of the weekend for Toyota Racing Development (TRD, USA) after Mike Skinner qualified first for Saturday's NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event earlier in the day.
