Curb/Agajanain/Boat Indy Racing team looks for big finish in Texas.
The Texas Motor Speedway is definitely one of Billy Boat's favorite racetracks. He won his first Indy Racing League victory there in 1998 and has always had strong finishes. He posted his best finish of this season there-- a 7th place finish in June's Boomtown 500. So it's only fitting that the CURB/Agajanian/Boat Indy Racing team is hoping for a great finish in this Sunday's Chevy 500 at the track.
"We had a real chance to win the race at Chicagoland and I think the race in Texas will be similar," says Boat. " The fact that I've crossed the finish line twice at the Texas Motor Speedway has to make it one of my favorite tracks and hopefully, it will be the home of a much-needed victory for the CURB/Agajanian/Boat Indy Racing Team."
With the final race in the 2002 Indy Racing league looming, the team is well aware that they need a strong finish in this weekend's race. But, they also acknowledge that the race results don't show the full story or accurately portray the season that they've really had,"It's hard to believe that the last race of the season is already here," muses Billy Boat."It's definitely been a building year for the CURB/Agajanian/Boat Indy Racing Team but I think that the result is amazing. We've assembled a fantastic, close-knit group of team members and shown that we can run with the best teams in the Indy Racing League."
He looks forward to Texas-style racing: plenty of side-by-side cars traveling in groups, a lot of drafting and good performances in traffic. During the June race, the #98 was still powered by Chevrolet. At that time, Boat commented,"I think these Nissans are going to be pretty tough so we're just going to have to see what they've got when they come out." Now, he too, is part of the strong Nissan/Infiniti contingency and is confident that the added power will boost the team even higher on the speed chart.
