Bryan Herta on the Texas Indy 500k:
"Texas has been pretty good to me. I finished in the top five in my first two starts there, and at the race back in June we were running fourth when the gearbox broke. I've still got a chance to catch Sam (Hornish Jr.) for seventh place in the points championship, so that's important to the XM Satellite Radio team, and we've still got one more chance to try and win a race this season."
Bryan Herta Facts
Herta drove to two fifth-place finishes at Texas Motor Speedway in 2003.
Herta currently occupies the eighth spot in the points championship. He's 26 points out of seventh place.
Herta and the XM Satellite Radio crew have placed in the top 10 on 10 occasions in 2004. That total ties him for the sixth-most top-10 results in the IndyCar Series.
Herta has scored four top-five finishes this season (Indianapolis - 4th, Richmond - 4th, Kansas - 5th, Chicagoland - 2nd).
Herta's best start in the IndyCar Series came at Nashville Superspeedway (July 17) when he wheeled the #7 XM Satellite Radio entry from the inside of the second row.
Herta has one IndyCar Series victory, which came at Kansas Speedway in 2003.
Herta has three career major open-wheel racing wins and seven poles.
George Klotz, Team Manager, #7 XM Satellite Radio Dallara/Honda/Firestone on the Texas Indy 500k:
"Hopefully we can end the year with a long sought-after win. The XM Satellite Radio team qualified fifth at the first race in Texas and we think we can be there again. Our focus is on getting the fourth car of Andretti Green Racing into victory lane."
IndyCar Series Records Set by Andretti Green Racing in 2004
AGR entries have won a record eight of 15 IndyCar Series events this season.
Andretti Green entries swept the top three positions at Nazareth on Aug. 29 (Wheldon - 1st, Kanaan - 2nd, Dario Franchitti - 3rd); the first time in IndyCar Series history that one team has claimed all three podium positions.
Andretti Green Racing has had at least one car in the top five in 21 consecutive IndyCar Series events dating back to Aug. 10, 2003, which stands as an IndyCar Series record. Kanaan has led 884 laps, an IndyCar Series single-season mark.
The 578 points amassed by Kanaan in 2004 is the highest single-season total ever recorded by an IndyCar Series driver, breaking the old mark of 531, set by Sam Hornish Jr. in 2002 (15 races). Kanaan has recorded an IndyCar Series record 14 consecutive top-five finishes, which sets two new marks - one for most consecutive top fives and one for most top fives in a season.
