Fresh from their strong performances during the month of may at Indianapolis, the Indy Racing League teams equipped with the G Force chassis are set to contest two key races in the next two weeks at Texas Motor Speedway in Forth Worth and Pikes Peak.

The top G Force performer at Indy, Mo Nunn Racing's Felipe Giaffone is eagerly awaiting the chance to show continued speed at the super-fast Texas venue under lights on Saturday night.

Giaffone finished 3rd at Indy after challenging eventual winner Helio Castroneves. Being blocked by a lapped car while going for the lead late in the race allowed 2nd-place man Paul Tracy to find a way past Giaffone late in the event.

"I think Texas is always going to be an exciting place to race," Giaffone said.

"It's wide open, close racing from beginning to end. That makes it really interesting for the drivers, but especially it is great for the fans. You really have to stay on your toes, and you have to have a lot of respect for each other out there.

"Right now, I'm really happy with my new team, and all of the guys. I woke up the first two mornings after Indy thinking that I should have won the race, so I was still a little disappointed."

Giaffone has been delighted with the performance of his G Force chassis throughout 2002.

"I think the G Force has been good for us throughout the whole season so far. From the first race at Homestead through the month of May at Indy, we have been running strong," Giaffone said.

"And it's not just us. You always see a G Force up front. I'm very comfortable with the car and I'm pretty sure we're going to have a good car for the race and for qualifying at both Texas and Pikes Peak."

The Brazilan will be joined in the American made G Force machines at Texas by Chip Ganassi Racing's Jeff Ward; Dreyer & Reinbold's Robbie Buhl; 310 Racing's George Mack and Treadway & Associates, Rick Treadway. Zali Racing have also entered for the Texas event, but have not officially nominated a driver at this stage.

For the high-banked Texas track, G Force will introduce new front wing end-plates as well as floor modifications for each of its teams.

"The aim at Texas is to improve your straight line speed and we are able to do away with a bit of downforce and drag because the banking gives you good mechanical grip," G Force, Senior Technical Engineer, Chris Rushforth said.

"These are new changes to the car from what ran at Texas last year and are the result of the extensive wild tunnel program we have undertaken this year. Having an efficient downforce here is imperative because the speeds will be so high.

"We also learned a great deal from testing and the race at Fontana earlier this year. Our aim is to help our teams maintain the momentum from Indy and we have more improvements in the pipeline."

G Force was recently announced as one of the official IRL chassis suppliers for the next three years. The company has been in IRL competition since the introduction of the new chassis rules in 1997.

Part of the Panoz group's Elan Motorsport Technologies organization, the G Force headquarters in Georgia features full in-house design, fabrication, machining and composite construction facilities.

The largest manufacturer of racing cars in the world, the Elan group includes G Force, Formula Ford expert Van Dieman, leading American Le Mans Series team Panoz Motor Sports and specialist services companies Elan Power Products, Elan Precision and Elan Composites.
