"My tires were awesome all day long!"

Moments after pulling his Kelley Racing Corteco car into victory circle at Texas Motor Speedway tonight, a very happy Al Unser Jr. had plenty of kind words for the performance of his Firestone Firehawk racing radials.

"My tires were awesome all day long," Unser Jr. said. "They performed very well; I ran labels (unscrubbed tires) and they stuck with me the whole way through. I sure am happy to win down here in Texas."

Quote from Firestone Racing Executive Director Al Speyer: "This was another awesome race at Texas. The Firestone Firehawks were superb; we developed a new right-side construction for the race and it held up extremely well. Big congratulations to Al Unser Jr.; he really earned this win tonight and we couldn't be happier for him and the whole Kelley Racing team."

Firestone Performance Award: Target Chip Ganassi Racing driver Tomas Scheckter claimed the Firestone Performance Award for leading at the end of lap 76. The award celebrates Firestone being in all 76 IRL events conducted since the first competition in 1996 - the only tire manufacturer to have done so. Scheckter will receive a $10,000 check from Firestone during IRL pre-race ceremonies next weekend at Pikes Peak International Raceway.

Race temperatures ranged from 89 to 103 degrees track and from 80 to 85 degrees ambient (F).
