Firehawk Race Tires Supplied: Firestone Racing engineers designed a new tire construction for this year's race and are matching it with the proven tread compound formula used on last year's Firehawk tires for Texas Motor Speedway. The minor construction change should allow for the new generation of IndyCar Series chassis and engines to better adapt to the demanding 1.5-mile oval.

The final tire specification was decided after testing at TMS in April, with the production run of 1,110 tires finished just in time for shipment to the racetrack. All of the tires were produced at Firestone's Technical Center in Akron, Ohio.

Each entered car this weekend receives up to eight sets (32 total tires) for use at the team's discretion throughout practice, qualifying and the race.

Quote from Al Speyer, Executive Director, Firestone Racing: "Texas Motor Speedway has become renowned for producing some of the most exciting racing in IRL history. We at Firestone are proud to play a part in the thrilling action that often sees numerous cars battling tire-to-tire throughout the entire event. It takes a special tire to stand up to the rigors of TMS lap after grueling lap, and the Firestone Firehawks have risen to that challenge each and every time we've competed here. Yet our sensational engineers and chemists are constantly searching for ways to make the tire perform even better, which is why they developed the construction modification for this weekend's Firehawks. We believe it will once again provide the IndyCar drivers with the reliable footing they need to make all the daring moves necessary and put on another memorable show for the fans at home and on television."

The Official Tire of the IRL: Firestone is the exclusive tire supplier to the Indy Racing League for both the IndyCar and Infiniti Pro series.
