Barron racing on his birthday

When Alex Barron takes to track for the race on June 11, he'll be celebrating his 35th birthday. With any birthday luck, he'll top his third-place finish during the first Texas race last year. Barron brings plenty of experience racing at Texas Motor Speedway, having participated in five IndyCar Series races at the track. He's finished in the top 10 three times.

The team's take on Texas

"It's a really fun race because it's at night. Texas is one of the best speedway ovals that we run on because of the high banking, which produces great track action. It seems like this is a constantly changing race, and it's usually really exciting down the stretch with about five cars shooting out to win the event at the end. " -- Alex Barron

"It's going to be a great weekend of racing with the Menards Infiniti Pro Series race, the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Race and our race under the lights. I've always enjoyed night races because it adds an extra element of excitement for the fans and the drivers. We worked really hard at Indy, so hopefully we'll be able to build on some of the things we learned and move more toward the front in Texas." -- Patrick Capentier

Building on Indy

Red Bull Cheever Racing logged more than 3,000 miles at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway during May, which is more work than the team has ever done at the track during its 10-year history. The team was able to learn many things about the cars and the new (to the team) Toyota engines, which should prove beneficial as the season continues. In the race, Barron was plagued with fuel rig problems, which caused him to fall several laps behind the leaders. Nonetheless, he finished the race and placed 13th. After a strong effort early in the race, Carpentier was forced to retire late in the race when his car picked up a piece of debris from an accident, causing a mechanical failure. As a result, he finished 21st. Carpentier is currently 11th in IndyCar Series point standings, while Barron is tied for 12th.

Racing Action at Texas Motor Speedway
