Dario Franchitti, #27 Klein Tools/Canadian Club Dallara/Honda/Firestone
"The first thing I always like to establish is a comfort level in the car, and then go for speed, but I haven't been able to get the car comfortable yet. As a group, we've certainly got our work cut out for us overnight to try and get something we can race with tomorrow night."
Tony Kanaan, #11 Team 7-Eleven Dallara/Honda/Firestone
"We're still looking for some speed. I really didn't expect to be struggling like this, but the race isn't over yet. We still have a whole day to think about what we can do. Team 7-Eleven has always had good results here and I'm confident we'll have another strong run tomorrow."
Herta encountered a gearbox problem in the first practice session on Friday, resulting in a damaged engine due to an over-rev. The XM Satellite Radio team was forced to change engines for the second practice, which will move Herta to the rear of the starting field on Saturday.
Bryan Herta, #7 XM Satellite Radio Dallara/Honda/Firestone
"I really have no idea where we're at right now for tomorrow night's race. We missed most of the first practice because of a gearbox problem and then we had a glitch in the car tonight. It just wasn't running right, so we spent the whole practice coming in and out of the pits trying to fix the problem. Unfortunately, I don't think we were able to really learn anything about what kind of car we have. I'm just really going to need to rely on my teammates."
(ON HIS GEARBOX PROBLEM) "We had just done our installation lap. We had just put a brand new motor in. We just got up to speed and I came up on Danica. She was going really slow, Jeff Simmons slowed down and then pulled out right in front of me. They went two-wide, I slammed on the brakes and tried to downshift. Somehow the car went from fifth gear to second gear and over-revved the motor."
Marco Andretti, #26 NYSE Dallara/Honda/Firestone
"We're definitely not as fast as we need to be, but the NYSE team has always given me a car on race day that's dialed in and ready to race. We have time tomorrow to figure out what we need to do. Tomorrow night will be a long race and I really feel that the NYSE car will be ready."
