The cars of Indy Racing Northern Light Cup title contenders Buddy Lazier's # 91, Scott Goodyear's # 4 and Eddie Cheever, Jr.'s #51 will have special orange markings for easy identification for our fans and media. The camera mount on the engine covers and the end plates on the front and rear wings will be colored orange.

Hemelgarn Racing mechanic Lindsey Hollard will be married in his hometown of New Plymouth, New Zealand in December. Team owner Ron Helmelgarn and his wife as well as several team members will be making the trip.

Northern Light Series veteran J.J. Yeley will fly to Irwindale Speedway immediately after qualifying Saturday to compete in tonight's USAC Coors Light Silver Bullet series race. J.J. is fourth in points in the USAC series and has a shot at the championship. He will fly back to TMS Sunday in time for the 1 p.m. start of the Indy Racing Northern Light Series. He qualified twenty-seventh in the WorldBestBuy.com/Jonathon Byrd's Cafeteria G Force/Oldsmobile/Firestone # 27.

Al Unser, Jr. on his Action Performance and Universal Studios Monsters of the Speedway program Dracula paint scheme, "I talked to Dracula last night. He'll let me take care of the day stuff, and he'll take care of the night stuff". Action Performance has released a 1:64 scale diecast version of Unser Jr.'s Dracula car.

Robby McGehee was cleared to drive Saturday after a crash Friday during afternoon practice. He qualified eighth for tomorrow's Excite 500. Robby said" I feel fine in the car but when I first get out of the car I'm really sore". Robby drives the #5 Broadband Investment Group G Force/Oldsmobile/Infiniti.

The five rookies still eligible for the $50,000 RaceSearch.com Rookie of the Year Award all qualified within seven positions of each other. #15 Sarah Fisher was the highest qualifying rookie, taking the inside of the seventh row. Jeret Schroeder, currently second in the Rookie of the Year battle, will start along side Fisher on the noutside of the seventh row. Fisher qualified at a speed of 210.971 while Schroeder turned a lap at 210.928 mph.
