Team Menard continues progress at Homestead test.

HOMESTEAD, Fla. (Feb. 18, 2003) - Team Menard continued to make progress in its pre-season testing Feb. 17 and 18 test at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Jaques Lazier drove the No. 2 Menards Johns Manville Dallara-Chevy entry for the team at the two-day test. He completed 150 laps on the 1.5-mile speedway with a fast speed of 200.986 mph (26.8676 seconds).

"The important thing about a test is to leave feeling like you have a good setup," Lazier said. "We had a difficult day yesterday, and a difficult time this morning. We collaborated with the Menard Cheever Technologies group and found a setup that gives us a good starting point for the race. The partnership with MCT and Red Bull Cheever Racing is finally starting to pay off. All in all it was a successful test."

Team Menard expects to make an announcement about its driver lineup for the 2003 season later this week.

The 2003 IRL IndyCar Series kicks off on March 2 with the Toyota Indy 300 at Homestead-Miami Speedway. The race will be televised live on ABC at 1 p.m. (EST).
