Vitor Meira Looks To Top Last Year's Top Five Finish

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- EcoNova Panther driver Vitor Meira looks to improve upon his fifth-place finish from 2005 during his second run in the Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg. Meira, who last year was just behind Andretti Green Racing's sweep of the first four positions, qualified 12th for the event a season ago.

Panther Racing driver Tomas Enge led four laps last season and qualified for the Firestone "Fast Six", which involves a duel between the quickest six single-lap qualifiers for the pole position. Enge started fifth with teammate Tomas Scheckter eighth. Meira looks to top the finishes of Enge and Scheckter, as both failed to finish the inaugural race here.

Meira finished 16th last weekend in the No. 4 EcoNova Panther Honda.

Vitor Meira Quote:

"Both the Panther cars were very strong here last year, and we are very confident that we have a good EcoNova car for the weekend. Now that the team has Honda power I feel that we are going to be even better. We did not finish how we wanted to last weekend in Homestead but we would have been very good if not for the problem we had during the race. This is a great track and I love St. Pete so we expect good things this weekend."
