Patrick Carpentier Brings St. Petersburg Experience
While the St. Petersburg event will be a first for most of the IndyCar Series teams and drivers, Red Bull Cheever Racing has an advantage. In his Champ Car World Series days, Patrick Carpentier raced at the St. Petersburg street circuit in 2003, starting fourth and finishing eighth.
"It is one of the most beautiful street circuits I have raced on," said Patrick Carpentier, driver of the No. 83 Red Bull Cheever Racing Dallara/Toyota/Firestone. "I am very happy to be going back. The track is exactly the same as when I was there in 2003. In that race I was running second and battling for first with two other drivers until I lost it on cold tires. We will see how it goes this weekend. I hope that we will be running in the top six and see if we can get to the front."
National Geographic Channel's IndyCar Racer Airs Next Week
National Geographic Channel will air the special IndyCar Racer, an insider's view of Red Bull Cheever Racing and the IndyCar Series, on Thursday, April 7 from 8 to 11 p.m. ET/PT. The three-hour special follows the team and 2004 drivers Alex Barron and Ed Carpenter at the final three races of last season including The Delphi 300 at Chicagoland Speedway, the Toyota 400 at California Speedway, and the Chevy 500 at the Texas Motor Speedway.
Eddie Cheever Jr. says about IndyCar Racer: "IndyCar Racer shows a lot of aspects of a racing team that no one ever gets to see. We had to think long and hard if we wanted people to see how crazy the inner workings of a team can be."
Alex Barron says about IndyCar Racer: "What the viewers will see in this show will be a lot different than what they can see in the race broadcasts. Viewers will get an eyeful of what goes on behind the scenes of a race team and how much effort it takes to go racing."

"There is a lot of build up and excitement for the race in St. Petersburg this weekend," said Alex Barron, driver of the No. 51 Red Bull Cheever Racing Toyota. "It will be an extraordinary event. It is IndyCar's first street course event and it is a great time of the year to be in Florida with the weather. The IRL has come up with a unique qualifying format which will be very exciting for the race fans."
