Madison, Ill. -- Buddy Lazier completed his 80th career IRL IndyCarTM Series event, finishing 11th in the Emerson Indy 250 at Gateway International Raceway August 10.

The 2000 IndyCar Series champion failed to find speed throughout much of the weekend, qualifying 21st. But when the checkered flag dropped after 200-laps, Lazier managed to pick off several competitors to finish 11th. Although the race weekend was not ideal for Lazier and the Hemelgarn team, he was pleased with the overall effort.

"I think we made the best day of a poor weekend that we could," said Lazier. "It's not quite a top-ten so that's disappointing. But at the same time it is positive because we're gaining momentum.

"Of course, all of our attention is focused on the coming week. At least we've got our one race car intact and ready for the coming Gen IV Chevy engine, which we are all obviously very excited about."

The team returned to Indianapolis to finish the labor intensive conversion process of the new Gen IV Chevy engine. On Thursday the No. 91 Delta Faucet/Life Fitness Dallara chassis will be ready to participate in shake down test at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

The next IRL IndyCar Series event is the Belterra Casino Indy 300 August 17 at Kentucky Speedway.
