QUALIFYING / FAST 6 SHOOTOUT RESULTS: Scott Dixon set the fourth quickest time in single car qualifying and advanced to the Firestone Fast Six Shootout where he was fifth quickest with a fast lap of 1:17.3379 sec / 107.063 mph. He will start from the fifth spot on the grid. Dan Wheldon set a lap time of 1:18.6626 sec / 105.260 mph putting him in the tenth spot on the starting grid. Dario Franchitti earned the pole position with a fast lap time of 1:16.7017sec / 107.951 mph.

Scott Dixon: "The whole weekend, we've really been struggling. We decided to go test at Sebring instead of Sonoma with the Indy Pro Series (bonus) test, so that may have hurt us. Hopefully what we did there is going to help us in Detroit. We've just missed it all weekend. It's really hard to get a lap together; the Target car is pretty inconsistent. Maybe with full tanks and a few changes we'll be a little bit better in the race. At least three guys and girls up front have it pretty covered in their cars."

Dan Wheldon: "I think I just over drove that lap a little bit. It was unfortunate. The Target car is reasonably good. It was good in today's practice session. We just have to make sure we move forward in the race."
