Fort Worth-Dallas (August 26, 1998) - Race fans with an appetite will have the opportunity to eat like kings and help local children's organizations at the same time through the Speedway Charities and Championship Auto Racing Auxiliary (CARA) Raceway Romp with "A Taste of IRL" during the Lone Star 500 weekend at Texas Motor Speedway.

An evening of fun, food, music and entertainment for the entire family is planned on Friday, Sept. 18 at 8:00 p.m. following Pep Boys Indy Racing League and ARCA qualifying. The evening will feature a progressive dinner in the speedway's infield driver motorcoach area. Guests can stroll from coach to coach and feast on everything from gourmet appetizers to scrumptious desserts prepared by the chefs of the IRL teams and sponsors, with all proceeds from the event benefiting Speedway Children's Charities and CARA.

"This is a great way to help Speedway Children's Charities and CARA Charities and its support of the IRL series," said Betty Rutherford, president of the board of trustees Texas chapter of Speedway Children's Charities. "This event will help CARA's 'Buckle Up Baby' car seat program, IRL Ministries, and the Rich Vogler Memorial Scholarship Fund as well as benefit local Dallas/Fort Worth children's charities."

Two different tickets are available for the event. A $50 ticket includes a chance to sample foods prepared by the chefs of the IRL plus a festive Tex-Mex buffet, along with music, entertainment, and a silent auction. A $25 ticket simply includes the buffet, music, entertainment, and silent auction.

Tickets for the occasion may be purchased in Texas from Speeedway Children's Charities, PO Box 500, Fort Worth, TX 76101-2500 or CARA Charities Office, 2915 North High School Road, Indianapolis, IN 46224.
