KELLEY RACING CONCENTRATES ON RACE DAY SET-UP
RADISSON 200 Pikes Peak International Raceway Fountain, Colorado Practice Report -- Friday, June 25, 1999
Fountain, CO (June 25, 1999)- After qualifying first and second in the Longhorn 500, Kelley Racing teammates Mark Dismore and Scott Sharp are concentrating on winning this weekend's Radisonn 200 at Pikes Peak International Raceway. Dismore, driver of the MCI Worldcom/Dallara/Oldsmobile/Goodyear, won the pole at the Texas Motor Speedway, but is still seeking his first career Pep Boys Indy Racing League victory. Overall, Dismore was 12th on the speed charts at 172.348 mph.
Kelley Racing Teammate, Scott Sharp and the Delphi Automotive Systems team, clocked the fifth fastest time of the day at 173.695 mph. The Delphi team focused on long runs for race day conditions, making minor adjustments to fine-tune the #8 Delphi machine.
#8 Scott Sharp, Delphi Automotive Systems/Dallara/Oldsmobile/Goodyear car: "We ran some long runs today, and the Delphi car feels pretty good for the race. We weren't searching for speed as much as longevity and consistency. We're going to work on qualifying set-ups tomorrow morning, but our main focus is winning the race."
#28 Mark Dismore, MCI WorldCom/Dallara/Oldsmobile/Goodyear car: "The MCI WorldCom car was running pretty well today. We worked on race day set-up. I'm not too concerned about the speed right now. I want to have a car for race day that handles well and will last a long time on Sunday."
Catch LIVE PPG Pole qualifying action on SpeedVision starting at 3 p.m. (EDT) on Saturday, June 26. The Radisson 200 starts at noon (MDT) Sunday, June 27.
