24-year old Wheldon and the Klein Tools / Jim Beam crew worked on the car's race set-up for most of the practice session and were still searching for speed in anticipation of a qualifying run as the session ended.
Wheldon's team-mate Tony Kanaan will startfrom the pole today. Helio Castroneves will start second and Felipe Giaffone will start third. Dario Franchitti, who is returning to the car for the first time in three races, will start from seventh position.
The Honda Indy 225 will be broadcast live today on ABC with thestart scheduled for 4pm (EDT). In the UK, the race will be broadcast live on Sky Sports 3 at 9pm and highlights will be shown on Fiveearly on Wednesday morning at 01.35 am.
Dan Wheldon commented: 'I think we would have been reasonable out there. With as competitive as the series is, to get a pole you have to have a lot of confidence going in and perhaps mine isn't the highest right now. The Klein Tools/Jim Beam carwill be strong on Sunday. I know (team manager) Tony (Cotman) will make some good calls in the pits and the crew will give me some good stops a s long as I hit my marks. We will be good.'
