AVONDALE, Ariz. (March 23, 2003) - In dramatic fashion, Team Menard driver Jaques Lazier recovered from 360-degree spin to earn Chevrolet its top finish of sixth place in the Purex Dial Indy 200 at Phoenix International Raceway.

"It was just skating on the edge and went around on me," Lazier said about the spin on lap 153. "I kept the throttle down and kept going. It reminds me of the spin and win at Indianapolis. Right now a sixth-place finish and being the top placing Chevrolet is a spin and win for us."

"I am proud of the Johns Manville/Menards team," Lazier continued. "The car wasn't quite right at the beginning. We just kept fighting with it until it worked. That's the nature of this team. We never surrender and keep fighting and fighting. This finish is much more representative of what this team is capable of."

Lazier is confident of more success as the team prepares for its first international event in Japan on April 13th, followed by the Indianapolis 500 in May.

"We are going to keep building on this momentum," Lazier said. "Every Chevrolet that was in there, and didn't crash, was running at the end. That shows that we have the reliability issue figured out. From here on out what we need to do is to keep working on the entire package. With that we need to get a little more horsepower as well. If we can get those two things done we will be winning in the very near future."

The Indy Japan 300 at Twin Ring Motegi will be televised on a tape-delayed basis on ABC at 1 p.m. (EST) April 13.

One of the founding teams of the IRL IndyCar Series, Team Menard has two championships, 10 wins and an all-time record of 24 pole positions to its credit. Owned by John Menard, the Indianapolis-based team is supported by Menards, Johns Mansville, Chevrolet, Menard Engine Group, Dallara, Firestone and Menard Cheever Technologies.
